The EX500 Ninja in its final years of the second generation, a light, upright 498 cc parallel twin with a DOHC four-valve head and six-speed gearbox. Reviewers described it as easy to ride and low-maintenance, with a seat low enough to suit riders stepping up from a 250. Its carburettor engine and iron double-cradle frame kept it simple and cheap to run.
